According to Interfax-Ukraine, Uber is going to launch electric bicycle and electric scooter rental services in Kyiv if the mayor’s office solves the infrastructure problem, Uber’s regional manager for the UK, Northern and Eastern Europe, Jamie Haywood, said during the presentation of UberShuttle.
“You know that Uber bought the service of renting electric bikes Jump. And now the manufacturer is increasing the pace of equipment production - we are talking about the production of electric bikes and scooters. While we have not made any deals with the mayor of Kyiv, first we should ensure the safe movement of bicycles around the city. My task is to bring transport for you when there are safe routes," he said. According to Haywood, the city must also have established rules for the use of electric scooters.
As reported earlier, Uber launched a pilot project in Kyiv Uber Shuttle, a service for booking a seat in a minibus, which will run over two selected destinations within the city. The price for one trip will vary from 15 to 30 UAH. You can pay for the trip both through the application and in cash.
Test routes include such directions as Vynogradar - Shevchenko district and Darnytsa - Lybidska. Shuttles from Uber will run from 7:00 to 21:00 every 15 minutes.
By the end of August, according to V. Klytschko, Uber plans to launch 50 branded shuttles in Kyiv.
