Frequently Asked Questions

What is medical tourism?

Medical tourism is travelling to another country for the purpose of obtaining medical care. It is a worldwide trend, and Ukraine has also taken its place as a medical tourism destination. Travellers seek medical treatment outside their home country for a variety of reasons. Traditionally, medical travellers try to reduce the cost of medical procedures. In the US, UK, and many European countries, medication is rather expensive. Thus, the price is an important factor when patients consider medical tourism destinations. In some cases people look for the procedures that are not available in their home countries, owing to ethical objections to them.

Why should I work with UA Destination?

You don’t have to work with a medical tourism agency. You can contact an overseas clinic directly, schedule your appointments, and book all arrangements on your own. However, if you work with us, we will take care of the most things you need. We have personally inspected some clinics, met the doctors, and established strong relationships with them.

Should I tell my doctor about going abroad for the purpose of medical care?

We recommend our clients to talk with their doctors. Many doctors know about medical tourism and can give some recommendations.

Is the medical care in Ukraine really cheap?

The costs are typically 50-80% lower in Ukraine than in the US and some European countries. If you have received quotes in the US for $10,000, you can expect the same procedure to cost between $2,000 and $5,000. There are various reasons for this, namely lower government taxes, lower labour costs and healthcare prices.

How can I trust the quality of the Ukrainian doctors?

It is still important for you to do your own research based on the options presented to you so that you can make an informed final decision.

Can I bring a companion?
