The only one in Ukraine and the largest in Eastern Europe the Festival of silent cinema and contemporary music SILENT NIGHTS will take place in June, according to VechirniyKyiv. The cinema shows will take place on June 20-22 in Kyiv, in Dovzhenko Center, where the most complete collection of silent films in the country is kept.
This year, 6 mute films will be shown at the festival, which until recently were considered lost, in a new musical accompaniment from contemporary musicians from Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania, Great Britain and Austria.
The films of the program, found in archives in different parts of the world over the last few years, have been united by the theme of expulsion and return: both the tapes themselves seemed to have been lost forever and their heroes who left their home in search of a better destiny, as expressed by the 9- th festival: "Prodigal children".
The films will be shown with live music accompaniment of contemporary Ukrainian and foreign performers and composers.
Date: June 20 - 22. Impressions start at 19:00 and at 21:00.
Address: Dovzhenko Center (Kyiv, Vasylkivska Str., 1, Golosiyivska metro station).
