In Kyiv, only 11-20% of women ride a bike. To popularize cycling among women, Ucycle invites women to take part in the #KyivCycleChic 2019 bike parade.
"As a rule, when it comes to Kyiv cyclists, we think about guys in cycling clothing or sportswear. Bicycle parade of girls proves that your style of clothes is determined by you, not by your bike. We show that cycling is possible in clothes for all tastes and for any occasion, wheather you go for a business lunch, meet with friends, have a date or go to the theater. We invite girls of any age, but men can also join KyivCycleChic.
What is CycleChic? This street fashion style arose in Europe as opposed to cycling, through which the bike ride began to be perceived as requiring athletic clothing and "outfit" and not accessible to everyone. CycleChic focuses on "normal" cycling, when people ride bikes in casual clothing. This movement helps to rethink the bicycle as an effective and practical means of transportation that facilitates our lives. There is even the manifesto of Cycle Chic! We create a local version of this style - #KyivCycleChic."
