In this rating, the Ukrainian capital was ahead of the Italian one - the city of Rome - with an index of 1.96 cameras. Researchers collected information on the number of cameras in the most populous cities from open sources. Mostly authors focus on video surveillance, which is used by government agencies, in particular law enforcement agencies. So finding accurate information about the number of private cameras is quite difficult, this indicator was not taken into account.

According to the Director of the Department of Information and Communication Technologies of the Kyiv City State Administration, Yurii Nazarov, video surveillance in Kyiv solves a number of problems. Video cameras with the ability to recognize faces and license plates help to solve crimes and find people. And the technique that determines the speed and direction of traffic allows the management to improve traffic.
