Ukrainian film has got on Oscar longlist

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has published a long list of submissions for the best international feature film, more known as the best foreign-language film Oscar. The list includes films from 93 countries. Ukraine’s Oscar Committee submitted the film Homeward for Academy Award.

The film tells the story of a Crimean Tatar man, who is coming back to the Russia-annexed Crimea to bury his elder son who died in the Donbas war.

 

The longlist also includes the film of Vaclav Margoul "The Painted Bird", a joint production of Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia. The shortlist of 10 films will be announced on December 16. Nominations for the 92nd Oscars will be announced on January 13.  The ceremony will take place on February 9.
