Ukrainian singer is on the list of 50 New Artists of 2020

The British newspaper The Guardian has added Ukrainian rapper Alyona Alyona to the list of 50 New Artists of 2020. According to The Guardian, the former kindergarten teacher and Ukrainian rapper Alyona Alyona does not use obscene vocabulary in her songs, just in case her children can hear their music. However, her music, trap tinged with traditional vocal melodies, is far from toothless.

In her song Ribki, the rapper sings not only about the fish, but also about women who feel "not at ease." Just as she felt when people told her that a plus-size rapper would never succeed in Ukraine. Alyona Alyona in her songs reads rap about everyday life, feminism, positive attitude towards her body and tolerance. After the Revolution of Dignity in 2014, she switched from Russian to Ukrainian, which is considered "beautiful, soft, tender and more poetic".
