The Ukrainian film Stranger won the best original screenplay nomination in Los Angeles, at the Hollywood Blood Horror Festival, an international horror film festival. The director and script writer of the film is Dmytro Tomashpolsky. In the Ukrainian film distribution Stranger is expected in 2020.

The film tells the story of love with the help of characters and consists of episodes that are not connected in a plot and stylistic way. However, they are all united in one mood and meaning. This witty story-meditation on relationships between people is revealed through sounds.

Golden Globe Award's Longlist has been announced. The list of Best Foreign Language Films, which includes 93 films from 65 countries, contains Nariman Aliev's film "Homeward". The film became the only Ukrainian candidate in the longlist of the Golden Globe Award.

The Ukrainian film "Weightlifter" ("Shtangist") has entered the competition program of the Sarajevo Film Festival, which will take place on 16-23 August, 2019. According to the website of the festival, the film is included into the European Shorts section. This year, the European Shorts section of the 25th Sarajevo Film Festival boasts 13 films hailing from 10 European countries.

The film “My Thoughts are Quiet”, directed by Antonio Lukich, won a prize at the 54th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. According to Radio Svoboda, in the category "To the East from the West," the picture was awarded a special award by the jury of the festival. This is the debut work of a young Ukrainian director in the full-length feature films.

The Ukrainian film "Home" (EVGE) directed by Nariman Aliyev, where Ahtym Seitablayev acted, won the "Best Film" Award at the International Film Festival in Bucharest. According to the State Agency of Ukraine for Movie on its Facebook page, the full-length debut of the Crimean Tatar director received an award and a cash prize of 4 thousand Euro.
