Travel on a budget: Ukraine is an affordable European destination

Travelling can be rather expensive, as you will have to pay for the flights and accommodations, meals and activities. However, planning a trip ahead is a good way to save for those who have a tight budget. If you are crossing borders, don’t forget to check out cheap flight options such as Ryan Air or Wizz Air.

And, what is the most important, you should consider pocket-friendly places. When it comes to Europe, cities like Paris, Prague and Venice always spring to mind, though they are not cheap. If you want to visit a nice place with beautiful architecture, ancient history, excellent dining options and cheap beer, why not explore Kyiv, Ukraine's capital.

According to the Forbes Magazine, Ukraine is one of the cheapest destinations to visit in 2019. It was chosen by Lucie Josma, a native New Yorker, and a world travel photographer, who have traveled to over 60 countries. “A great start is the historic city of Kiev, with its stunning religious architecture, museums and bustling city center,” she says.

In fact, the cost of living in Ukraine is significantly lower than its European neighbors making it a good option for the bargain hunters. Here you can travel for $30-50 per day including accommodation and food. Hotel accommodation in Kyiv costs about $20 per day. Bus, tram, and metro tickets are under $1 per trip.

Furthermore, Ukraine is one of the countries which are not spoilt by mass tourism. For instance, last year 1.6 million people visited Kyiv, compared to the 83 million tourists in Paris.

Another great gem in this country is Lviv which is about an hour’s flight away from the capital city. It is the cultural hub of the country, whose city center was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In addition, Lviv is also well-known for the delicious food, smelling coffee aroma and hand-made chocolate. If you have time, definitely consider a trip to the breathtaking Carpathian Mountains, “which provides mountain views that rival Switzerland”, as Lucie Josma mentioned to Forbes Magazine.

As you can see, Ukraine is one of the most amazing and budget-friendly destinations. Visiting Ukraine won’t cost you an arm and a leg. It definitely needs to be on your travel list for 2019. Find your holiday tour.
